Federal immigration authorities in Chicago have arrested an illegal alien charged with the shocking concealment and abuse of a missing woman’s body, bringing national attention to a controversial judicial release.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Chicago arrested Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, 52, a criminal alien from Mexico, on July 19, 2025.
He was apprehended after being charged in April with concealing the body of 37-year-old Megan Bos in a storage container for two months, abusing her corpse, and obstruction of justice.
Horrific Discovery in Waukegan
Megan Bos was reported missing on March 9, 2025. Waukegan Police Department officers discovered her body in April, located in a bleach storage container in Mendoza-Gonzalez’s yard.
Authorities confirmed the victim’s body was decapitated.
Mendoza-Gonzalez was immediately charged following the discovery. However, the subsequent judicial decision sparked widespread outrage among law enforcement.
Controversial Judicial Release
Despite the severity of the charges, Lake County Judge Randie Bruno released Mendoza-Gonzalez from custody at the conclusion of his April court appearance.
This decision allowed the criminal illegal alien to “freely roam Chicago streets” until he was taken into federal custody by ICE three months later.
Mendoza-Gonzalez is currently being held at Lake County Jail in Waukegan, Illinois.
Federal Outrage Over Release
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a sharp condemnation of the judicial action, stating the arrest stopped Mendoza-Gonzalez from “terrorizing Americans.”
“It is absolutely repulsive that a judge freed this monster and allowed him to walk free on Illinois’s streets after allegedly committing such a heinous crime,” McLaughlin said.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, Megan Bos and her family will have justice.”
McLaughlin also highlighted the relaunch of the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office, which she stated was shuttered by the previous administration. The office serves as a dedicated resource for those victimized by crimes involving aliens.
