Luis Enrique Pushes PSG to Open Negotiations for Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Teammate
Due to ongoing injury troubles and the team gradually losing its defensive prowess, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is allegedly targeting the signing of a more experienced defensive player with the center-back position in mind.
The Ligue 1 club which currently has some problems in the defense is already planning its attacks on one of the prominent personalities of the Saudi Pro League.
According to El Chiringuito’s Jose Alvarez, PSG’s manager, Luis Enrique, has urged the club’s management to begin talks with Al-Nassr regarding the transfer of Aymeric Laporte. The 30-year-old defender, who previously starred for Manchester City, has been a key player for Al-Nassr since his move.
His impressive performance in helping Spain secure the Euro 2024 title this summer has further enhanced his reputation.
There are reports that Real Madrid has shown interest in the player, but the latter has stated that it will not be signing any new players at the moment. This puts PSG in a solid spot, still, with the financial muscle of the club and the appeal of returning to a top European league potentially swaying Laporte’s decision.
However, as a club with top talent acquisitions, such as Cristiano Ronaldo in the recent past, Al-Nassr could be reluctant to let go of such a key player. A post that was made recently by the verified Al Nassr Zone on X announced the negotiations saying, “Luis Enrique wants PSG management to negotiate with Al Nassr for Aymeric Laporte. ”
While PSG is considering this possibility of transfer, it is still unknown how the situation will be and whether the French club will be able to persuade Al-Nassr to let go of one of their top defenders.
