Olaoluwa Segun, a Nigerian TikTok content creator who stirred controversy after naming actress Dayo Amusa among celebrities allegedly living with HIV, has opened up about his recent encounter with the law and his experience behind bars.
Recall that in July 2025, Segun had released a viral video listing Amusa among actors he claimed were HIV-positive. The actress swiftly debunked the allegation, clarifying that her 2019 post about her HIV-negative status was meant to create awareness and encourage fans to know their status, not to imply she was infected. Amusa also vowed to make the TikToker a scapegoat for spreading false and damaging claims.
In a new video shared on Tuesday, Segun revealed that he was detained following Amusa’s petition against him. According to him, he spent two nights at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, an experience he described as the worst of his life.
“I was locked up in Panti for two days after I honored the police invite over Dayo Amusa’s petition against me. This was the worst experience of my life after the death of my mum,” he recounted.
Segun narrated the grim conditions inside the cell, saying that upon entry, he was ordered by a rugged-looking inmate to prostrate and greet others. He described the overcrowded cell, housing about 60 people, with no furniture, four pit latrines, and swarms of mosquitoes entering through an uncovered window.
“There is no furniture in the cell, it has four pit latrines and one uncovered window where mosquitoes kept coming in,” he said, adding that the stench made sleeping unbearable.
He further disclosed that his situation improved only when a fellow inmate, who happened to be one of his TikTok followers, recognized him and offered protection. Interestingly, Segun also learned from the inmates that the cell he stayed in was the same one where singer Naira Marley was once held.
Despite the trauma, Segun expressed gratitude to Dayo Amusa for forgiving him and withdrawing further action that could have prolonged his detention.
“We all slept on cold tiles. But I want to appreciate Aunty Dayo Amusa for changing her mind to forgive me. If not, I would have stayed there much longer,” he added.
