A loaded truck carrying drinks caught fire on the Odoyalaro Bridge this morning, causing severe traffic congestion for commuters heading towards Maryland.
The incident was reported by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at 6:35 AM. The fire reportedly started from the rear tyre of the truck as it moved along the bridge.
The blaze has resulted in significant traffic delays, with vehicle queues extending as far back as Ojota on the busy Ikorodu Road axis.
LASTMA officers are currently on the scene, actively managing the heavy traffic flow and securing the area. The Fire Service has been alerted and is presently en route to the location to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage.
Motorists are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution while approaching the Odoyalaro Bridge and to be patient as emergency responders work to clear the scene.
