Veteran Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, best known for his roles in Top Gun and Batman Forever, has passed away at the age of 65.
Kilmer died on Tuesday in Los Angeles due to complications from pneumonia, his daughter Mercedes confirmed to US media.
Val Kilmer rose to fame in the 1980s and 90s, starring in blockbuster films such as The Doors (1991), where he portrayed rock legend Jim Morrison, the Western Tombstone, and the crime thriller Heat. In 2014, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer and underwent treatment, including a tracheotomy, which affected his voice and limited his acting career.
Despite these challenges, he made a return to the big screen in 2022, reprising his role as Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise. Kilmer’s passing marks the loss of a Hollywood legend whose performances left a lasting impact on the film industry.
