The man already facing a federal terrorism charge for setting a woman on fire on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train last month is now confronting new charges in connection with a separate, earlier assault.
Lawrence Reed, 50, stands accused of attempted sexual assault against a female CTA rider and attacking a man who stepped in to help. This incident reportedly occurred near the Grand Blue Line stop in March. Neither victim sustained serious injuries.
Reed was previously arrested for an incident on November 17th where he allegedly doused a woman with gasoline and set her on fire on a Blue Line train.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO) confirmed that they were notified of the March attack case on November 20th, and an indictment was quickly returned. Reed is scheduled to appear in court on Monday for the new charges.
