The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has praised motorists and residents for their patience during the ongoing traffic diversions caused by the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge rehabilitation.
Speaking during an inspection of the site, Bakare-Oki addressed public concerns about the project’s quality and timeline.
He reassured commuters that the bridge reconstruction is being carried out to international standards and will be completed within the promised timeframe.
“I deeply empathize with our people over the inconveniences,” Bakare-Oki said. “However, this rehabilitation is essential to save lives, strengthen the bridge, and improve the commuting experience.”
He thanked Lagosians for their cooperation and for adapting their daily routines. Bakare-Oki also praised LASTMA personnel on duty for their commitment, noting that there have been no complaints against them.
Bakare-Oki reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow in the area, with officers on hand to manage congestion and assist drivers.
He encouraged all road users to continue following traffic directives, seeing the temporary inconvenience as an investment in a better transport system for Lagos.
