Lagos Traffic Update Today: 15+ Things You Need to Know Thursday Morning

Lagos commuters, here’s your Thursday morning traffic update from Bestlagos.ng! Whether you’re in Surulere, Ojo, or Victoria Island, we’ve got the latest on road conditions to help you plan your journey.

Here are 15 key updates from 6:00 AM to 7:24 AM.

Mile 2 Oke Accident: Brake Failure Causes Fatal Crash, Traps Victim

  1. Surulere Smooth Flow (6:00 AM – 6:06 AM):
    Dorman-Long Bridge to Ojuelegba Bridge has good movement both ways. Ojuelegba to Barracks, Barracks to Stadium Bridge, and Stadium to Alaka are all moving well. Alaka to Iponri and Costain to Eko Bridge are also good, with no impediments reported.

  2. Ojo-Iyana Iba Clear Roads (6:10 AM):
    Agbara Customs Checkpoint to Tipper Garage, Iyana Era, and Iyana Isashi are good. Afromedia to Franklass, Iyana Iba flyover to Mile 2, and underneath to Igando are smooth. Volks to Barracks and Abule Osun to Abule Ado have no issues. Officers are on duty with no impediments.

  3. Alausa-Ikeja Easy Commute (6:15 AM):
    Obafemi Awolowo Way from Barrack to Coca-Cola, Radio, Allen, and Olowu is moving well. Wemco Road to Lateef Jakande, Omole Roundabout, and Awolowo Way are good. Aromire to Adeniyi Jones and Mobolaji Johnson Avenue to Secretariat are clear. No overnight issues reported.

  4. Igando No Delays (6:40 AM):
    Isheri Roundabout to Pipeline, Diamond Estate, Idowu Egba, and College are good. Igando Phase 1 and 2, Omolade to Obadore, and Igando Road to Old Garage are smooth. Ijegun to Isheri Oshun and Ikotun to Council Roundabout are calm with no impediments.

  5. Victoria Island Breakdown Alert (6:45 AM):
    A container-laden MACK truck broke down by Walter Carrington toward Bonny Camp Roundabout. No traffic impact yet—tow vehicle contacted, and officers are monitoring.

  6. Ajah Minor Incident (6:52 AM):
    A six-tyre truck ran into a barrier at Chisco Traffic Light toward Ikate due to a propeller issue. Traffic remains good; tow truck contacted, and officers are managing the situation.

  7. 3MB-Gbagada Expressway Moving Well (6:55 AM):
    Iyana-Oworo to Ilaje, Adekunle, and Gbagada to Charly Boy are good both ways. Bariga from Deeper Life to Tantalizer, New Garage, and Baale is flowing with alternation. Muritala to Bariga Roundabout and Ilaje to Unilag Gate are clear. Officers are on ground.

  8. Apapa-Ajegunle Steady Flow (7:00 AM):
    Mobil Road, Ojo Road, and Otto Wharf to Boundary are good, though Boundary Roundabout is slow due to commercial activity. High Bridge to Danlami and Point Road to Iganmu are fast-moving. Flat Bed Trucks streamlined to one lane near Naggaff. Officers are managing choke points.

  9. Fagba-Ishaga No Issues (7:05 AM):
    Jonathan Coker to Amala Junction, Iju Road to Agege Pen Cinema, and Hospital Road to African Church are good. College Road to Ajayi Road and Jungle to Ishaga Roundabout are smooth both ways. No impediments recorded.

  10. Anthony Road Incident (7:05 AM):
    A truck loaded with sugar hit the BRT median at Ojota toward Ketu. Officers are managing traffic, and INMEC is planning recovery. No major delays yet.

  11. Victoria Island Traffic Update (7:10 AM):
    Mecwen Bridge to Bonny Camp Roundabout is moving well but gaining momentum. Bonny Camp Bridge to Ahmadu Bello Way, and Kofo Abayomi to Ozumba via Oniru and Kilimanjaro, are good despite traffic light delays. Law School to Lekki is steady with alternation delays, while the return from Lekki to Toll Plaza and Sandfield is smooth. BJ 1004 to Civic Centre, Oniru, and back to Bonny Camp is appreciable, but a 40ft container broke down by Walter Carrington Junction (update from 6:45 AM), with alternation delays under Bonny Camp Bridge. Ahmadu Bello Way to Eko Hotel Roundabout via Adetokunbo Ademola is steady. Ajose Adeogun to Ligali Ayorinde and Water Corporations is good both ways, with slight delays at alternation points.

  12. Mile 12 Encouraging Movement (7:15 AM):
    Iyana School to Kosofe and down to Mile 12 is moving well. Mile 12 Bridge to Owode Elede, Owode Onirin, and Weigh Bridge is encouraging both ways. Weigh Bridge to Idera is good, but Irawo is slightly busy due to bus stop activity and Irawo Estate usage. Irawo to Thomas, Ajegunle, and Odo Ogun is smooth, with the return from Odo Ogun to Owode Onirin and Mile 12 also good. Under Mile 12 Bridge to Ajelogo is clear, and Kosofe to Iyana School is a better movement. No impediments reported.

  13. Apongbon Steady Flow (7:17 AM):
    Eko Bridge to Apongbon is steady. Descending Eko Bridge to CMS Bridge and CMS proper is good, as is the route to Elegbeta Mini Stadium and Ebute-Ero Market. Idumota Bridge to Ebute-Ero, Leventis, UBA Roundabout, and inner/outer Marina is smooth. Broad Street to Apongbon, Offin Canal Market, and Olowogbowo is moving well. CMS Bridge to Offin Canal Market and Ijora Olopa by NEPA intersection is good. No impediments, with officers managing traffic.

  14. Jibowu-Yaba Mostly Smooth (7:20 AM):
    Adekunle to Third Mainland Bridge (inward and outward) is very good, tying into smooth flows reported on 3MB (6:55 AM). Herbert Macaulay Way to St. Agnes is okay, but Unilag Junction and Yabatech are slow due to congestion. WAEC to Jibowu is good, and Jibowu underneath the bridge to Empire (inward and outward) is in good shape. Jibowu to Fadeyi and Yaba Phases 1 and 2 are also good. Yaba Bridge to Tejuosho (inward and outward) is in perfect condition. Muritala Muhammed Way through Alagomeji, Adekunle, Post Office, and Oyingbo is smooth, while Oyingbo to Iddo via Otto is steady both ways. Oyingbo to Ile Ile is slightly busy due to market activities, and Kano St to Apena Cemetery and Adekunle is steady.

  15. Mile 2 Breakdown Alert (7:24 AM):
    A Toyota Avalon broke down due to tyre issues at Cele Nicer toward Mile 2, impacting the route previously reported as smooth (6:10 AM, Ojo-Iyana Iba). Efforts are underway to replace the tyre and evacuate the vehicle, with officers on ground monitoring and controlling traffic to minimize delays.
