Lagos State Government has started the second phase of repairs on the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge, which heads toward the Island. The work begins on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Officials reviewed the traffic plan to avoid the heavy jams seen in the first phase. They aim to finish the job quickly.
The bridge repair affects drivers coming from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway or Toll Gate toward Oshodi or Victoria Island. Traffic stays smooth most of the way, but near the repair spot, cars shift to one lane for about 50 meters before and after the area.
Drivers going to Oshodi can take the Ojota Slip Road to reach Ikorodu Road near the Taxi Park in Anthony. For Victoria Island, use the same slip road to Ikorodu Road near Town Planning Way, then go through Gbagada to the Third Mainland Bridge. Another option is to stay on Ikorodu Road to Funsho Williams Avenue and cross Eko Bridge.
People coming from Ikeja or nearby areas should go through Maryland to Ikorodu Road and Funsho Williams Avenue, then use Eko Bridge to Outer Marina. They can also link to Ikorodu Road near the Taxi Park in Anthony to reach Oshodi.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, said the new plan improves teamwork along the road during the work. He asked drivers to follow traffic officers, stay in their lanes, and use the other routes.
The partial bridge closure is part of the needed maintenance. Drivers should stay patient during this short disruption for better roads ahead.
