The Lagos State Police Command has strongly denied allegations of political bias, stating that police personnel are not supporting any political party in the state. This comes after claims were made by a political party that police were siding with an opposition group.
In response to the allegations and to ensure public peace, the Command has deployed joint police teams, including conventional police, tactical squads, and anti-riot units, to patrol Alimosho Local Government Area and other parts of Lagos.
The patrols, which began on September 4, 2025, are aimed at preventing crime and maintaining law and order.
According to the Command, the deployment is a standard measure to protect lives and property and remove the fear of crime from the minds of residents.
The police stated that as of now, no formal complaints of attacks or counter-attacks have been reported by any political party or individual at any police station in Alimosho or anywhere else in Lagos.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, emphasized that the police will remain neutral and impartial.
He urged political stakeholders and residents to report genuine complaints directly to the police, promising that all credible reports would be promptly and fairly addressed.
