Controversial Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has stirred social media conversation once again, this time by throwing his weight behind Judy Austin, the current wife of fellow actor Yul Edochie, amid ongoing speculations that she used diabolical means to win his affection.
In a strongly opinionated statement, Maduagwu dismissed claims that Judy used charms (“juju”) on Yul, insisting that what truly drew the actor to her was the respect, admiration, and loyalty she consistently showed him qualities he claims were missing in Yul’s previous marriage to May Edochie.
“Judy did not use juju on Yul, she only treated him as a king and lord and that is why he is having happiness. I do not support what Judy did, everybody knows I do not support it. In fact I am angry that she got pregnant with Yul, but this should be a lesson to married women,” Maduagwu said.
The actor, known for his controversial takes on celebrity relationships, emphasized that his defense of Judy should not be mistaken for support of her actions. He clarified that he remains critical of her decision to have a child with Yul, but believes that the situation reflects a broader problem in modern marriages.
“Many men are not happy in their marriages but they cannot complain. So many of them are not treated like kings in their homes. Before a man marries a woman she worships the man, but when they finally get married, the woman begins to change her character,” he added.
Maduagwu argued that one major reason marriages fall apart today is because women stop showing their husbands the kind of reverence they offered during courtship. He claimed that many wives begin to see their husbands as equals, instead of as “kings or lords,” which he says contradicts traditional and Biblical values.
His remarks have since drawn mixed reactions online, with some critics accusing him of promoting outdated gender roles, while others praised him for spotlighting what they perceive as a common but unspoken issue in marital dynamics.
Though Uche Maduagwu remains a polarizing figure in Nollywood, one thing is clear: he never shies away from adding fuel to ongoing conversations, especially when they involve the ever-controversial Yul Edochie-Judy Austin saga.
