A private business jet registered to former NASCAR star Greg Biffle crashed at Statesville Regional Airport on Thursday morning, resulting in multiple fatalities.
The crash occurred around 10:15 AM ET as the aircraft was attempting to land.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, there were deaths on board the plane, though authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of victims or their identities.

The aircraft, a Cessna C550 with the tail number N257BW, is owned by GB Aviation Leasing LLC.
Public records and local news reports confirm that the leasing company shares the same Mooresville mailing address as the 55-year-old semi-retired driver.
Witnesses near the scene reported seeing the plane flying unusually low before it went down.
Images from the airport show the wreckage engulfed in flames with thick black smoke rising into the air.
Fire crews and emergency responders remained on the scene throughout the morning, working under overcast skies and light rain.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently on-site, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation to determine what caused the fatal accident.
