Controversial Nollywood actor and comedian Ijoba Lande, has stirred social media again, this time, shedding light on his underwhelming experience working with superstar actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele.
In a trending audio clip currently making the rounds online, Ijoba Lande recounted the details of a past project he was part of at Amen Estate. According to him, the shoot, which lasted an entire month, saw him driving in with his Lexus 350, but leaving with just N90,000 as payment.
“There was a time Funke Akindele called me for a movie production at Amen Estate, and we spent one month,” he said, revealing the unexpectedly low fee he received for his time and effort.
The comedian, who recently made headlines over controversial infidelity claims involving his wife and Nollywood colleagues, used the opportunity to drop some hard truths for aspiring actors trying to find their feet in the competitive movie industry.
“I will advise upcoming actors never to see any top actor or producer as God. I have learnt my lessons,” he stated, clearly pointing to a sense of disillusionment from his own journey.
Ijoba Lande further emphasized the importance of clearly stating one’s fees and expectations before agreeing to work on any project, regardless of the star power involved.
His revelation has sparked mixed reactions online, with some expressing sympathy over the alleged low remuneration, while others believe it’s a wake-up call for young creatives to value their craft and speak up.
While Funke Akindele has yet to respond to the claims, the incident opens up fresh conversations about actor compensation and exploitation in Nollywood.
