Don Jazzy has addressed a resurfaced story about a legal incident he experienced in the United Kingdom during his early days as a struggling musician.
The controversy began after his former associate, Bankulli, recounted at a public event that the Mavin Records boss once fled an accident scene in London. According to Bankulli, Don Jazzy crashed his car after dozing off behind the wheel, removed the number plates, and disappeared to avoid a hefty towing fee.
“He was coming from a show, fell asleep, and crashed the car. Jazzy removed the plate number and ran away because paying to retrieve the car was more expensive than repairing it,” Bankulli claimed, emphasizing how far the music mogul has come since those days.
Following the revelation, an X user raised concerns that the case could be reopened if Don Jazzy visited the UK, warning that Bankulli’s comments might cause trouble.
Reacting to the online panic, Don Jazzy debunked the narrative completely. According to him, he did not run from the police, he waited for them.
“Lol no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly,” Don Jazzy wrote. “I actually waited for the police. They came and gave me a breathalyser to determine if I was drunk. I wasn’t, but the car was impounded.”
The music executive clarified that he abandoned the car after it was seized because the retrieval fee was more expensive than the value of the “cheap car” he owned at the time.
“So I left it with them lol,” he added, putting the matter to rest.
Fans have since praised the producer for handling the situation with humour and transparency.
