Afrobeats megastar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that if he weren’t making hits and selling out arenas, he would still be deeply rooted in the entertainment industry but likely behind the scenes or on the big screen.
In a recent chat with popular content creator Darryl, the music maestro opened up about his multifaceted talents and passion for the film industry. He disclosed that he studied Business Marketing and would have carved a niche for himself in music management, film production, or other entertainment-related ventures had his singing career not taken off.
“If I wasn’t singing, I would have still been in the entertainment space but probably, more of behind the scenes,” Davido said.
The DMW boss also revealed that he is actively exploring new creative territories, including acting and filmmaking. He’s already taking steps in that direction, with investments lined up for upcoming African film projects in collaboration with top music video director, Dammy Twitch.
“I’m investing in a couple of films this year. Shoutout to my director, Dammy Twitch. We have some ideas, series coming,” he said, adding, “The film space right now in Africa is going bankruptcy. So, we are definitely going to tap into that.”
Davido didn’t hold back on his acting ambitions either. He confidently stated that he’s got the chops for the big screen, citing performances in his music videos as proof of his talent.
“I can also act. I can act for real. I act in my music videos. I acted in music videos like ‘Jowo’, ‘Nwa Baby’,” he said.
With his sights set on the film industry, Davido continues to prove that he’s more than just an afrobeats icon, he’s a full-blown creative force.
