Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy set four Champions League records in Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.
Guirassy scored a stunning hat-trick in the encounter to lead Dortmund to a memorable victory which was not enough to see them through to the last four of the competition.
Barcelona’s 4-0 win in the first leg helped them to seal a 5-3 aggregate win to advance to the Champions League semi finals.
Guirassy opened the scoring for Dortmund in the 10th minute with a cheeky penalty, he added the second goal with a close range finish to make it 2-0.
He completed the historic hat-trick in the 76th minute after Barcelona failed to clear their lines, the ball fell kindly to Guirassy, who stabbed home his third goal of the match.
The 29-year-old has now scored 13 goals in 14 Champions League matches with four assists to become the top scorer of the competition.
It was a night of records for the Guinean striker, who shattered three records, while joining the list of Dortmund strikers to have scored a hat-trick in the Champions League.
Four Records Set By Guirassy Against Barcelona
Guirassy became the first African player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League quarterfinals.
Guirassy’s 13 Champions League goals this season is the most ever by an African player in a single campaign in the competition.
No Borussia Dortmund player has scored more goals in a Champions League season than Serhou Guirassy.
He is also the player with the most goals scored against Barcelona in a single edition of the competition after scoring five goals against them this season.
Guirassy has now scored 28 goals, and recorded nine assists in all competitions for Dortmund this season.
He joined the club from Stuttgart for a reported transfer fee of €18 million.
Guirassy was born in France, and he represented the county at the youth level before switching allegiance to Guinea, the home country of his parents.
He made his debut for Guinea in a 0–0 friendly draw against South Africa in March 2022.
He has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for Guinea.
Guirassy will be hoping to continue his excellent form when Dortmund takes on Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
