Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made an unannounced visit today to the construction site of the mid-level Agro Food Hub in Abijo, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The 23,000-square-meter facility, designed to boost food distribution across Lagos, features ample parking, cold and dry storage, and spacious trading floors for vendors.
This new hub aims to deliver fresh, affordable produce to communities along the Lekki-Epe corridor, reducing reliance on centralized urban markets.
It follows the model of the Idi-Oro Fresh Food Hub in Mushin and is part of a broader plan to establish similar hubs in Agege, Bombata, Lagos Island, Oregun, Ikorodu, Epe, and Badagry.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Lagos Agricultural Roadmap launched in 2021 and the recently introduced N500 billion Produce-For-Lagos Fund.
The Abijo hub will connect directly to the massive Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Ketu Ereyun, Epe, ensuring a steady supply of farm produce to meet local demand.
The project is expected to enhance food security, stabilize prices, and create economic opportunities for vendors and farmers across Lagos.
