“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B,’ a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in the church and music community,” the statement read. “Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a brief illness.”

Big Bolaji, who only recently marked his 50th birthday, was a towering figure in the gospel music scene, known for his energetic performances, inspiring messages, and deep commitment to his faith. He was an ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and also gained recognition as a radio talk show host.

His journey in gospel music began with the group J’apha, and over the years, he became a celebrated solo act with a ministry that spanned decades. His voice and messages touched lives across Nigeria and beyond, making him a household name in Christian circles.

As tributes continue to pour in from fans, friends, and fellow gospel artistes, the family has asked for prayers and privacy during this difficult time. They also noted that details of his funeral arrangements will be shared in due course.

Big Bolaji’s legacy as a passionate worshipper, mentor, and vessel of the gospel will undoubtedly live on.
