Ghanaian authorities have deported no fewer than 42 Nigerians from the Ashanti Region following court convictions related to prostitution, fraud, and other criminal offences.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 18, 2025, stating that the deportations were carried out after rulings by various courts across the region.
In addition to the Nigerians, several other foreign nationals were affected by the exercise. They include 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals, and seven citizens of Benin Republic. Altogether, 68 Africans were deported.
Providing further details, Amoakohene said the court cases involved offences linked to Q-Net activities, prostitution, and other related crimes. He applauded the Ghana Immigration Service for the orderly manner in which the deportations were conducted.
“I commend the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism, diligence, and firm commitment to enforcing our immigration laws, while upholding due process and human dignity,” he stated.
The regional minister added that the collaboration between the immigration authorities, the courts, and other security agencies has continued to enhance public safety, protect vulnerable individuals, and maintain law and order within the Ashanti Region.
