A viral video circulating on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok claims a massive aquarium in California collapsed, killing 50 people. This is fake, not real.
The dramatic footage shows a giant aquarium shattering, flooding a crowd with water and fish. However, this story is entirely false.
The video is AI-generated, and no such incident has occurred in California.
Social media users quickly flagged the video as fake, with comments pointing out its artificial nature. One user noted, “It’s definitely AI. No big aquarium collapse ever happened in California.”
The video may have been inspired by a real event in Berlin in December 2022, where the AquaDom aquarium burst, but no human fatalities were reported, though nearly 1,500 fish died.
Authorities and news outlets, including Hindustan Times, have confirmed the California collapse story is a hoax.
