In an exclusive interview with Nollywood veteran and lifelong Arsenal faithful, Chinedu Ikedieze, the celebrated actor opened up about the evolution of Arsenal Football Club, from the golden era of the Invincibles to the current Arteta-led revolution.
“The difference between Arsenal now and Arsenal then is clear,” Ikedieze began, “The Invincibles were a finished product, polished, clinical, ruthless. Arteta’s Arsenal is a beautiful work in progress.”
The Invincibles of 2003/2004 remain one of the most iconic teams in football history. Led by Arsène Wenger, that squad boasted titans like Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, and Dennis Bergkamp, storming through an entire Premier League season unbeaten. According to Ikedieze, they were the epitome of dominance. “Back then, it was almost a guarantee that we’d win or at least not lose. Teams feared us.”
But while nostalgia favors the past, he believes there’s something powerful happening in the present. “Arteta is doing a good job with this team,” he said.
He pointed out that while the Invincibles were built over years and peaked with perfection, Arteta’s side is still ascending. “We’re meant to believe the process, and I’m believing it. You never can tell how far they’ll go, but trust me, this team is going to be one of the best we’ve ever had.”
Ikedieze’s faith in the project is unwavering. “Yes, the Invincibles made history. Let’s see what Arteta makes of this generation. The future looks bright.”
For fans longing for a new golden age, the message is clear: Don’t just remember the Invincibles. Believe in the Believables.
