Popular Twitch streamer Emily “Emiru” Schunk was assaulted by a man Friday during a meet-and-greet session at TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego.
The man bypassed the line and aggressively grabbed Emiru from behind.
Footage of the incident, which quickly spread across social media, shows the assailant appearing to kiss her neck before security intervened.
Security Concerns and Swift Ban
Videos capture the man suddenly approaching Emiru. Although security quickly pushed him away, reports suggest he was not immediately arrested.
The swiftness of the assault and the initial confusion surrounding the man’s immediate detainment sparked shock and anger among attendees and fellow streamers.
Streamers like Tectone voiced concerns, urging fans to leave the event due to safety fears.
Other major personalities, including Asmongold, sharply criticized the security arrangements, highlighting vulnerabilities for women at the convention.
Twitch responded rapidly to the incident. A company spokesperson confirmed the man was immediately removed from the venue and has been permanently banned from the Twitch platform and all future events.
“Twitch has a strict rule against harassment and takes safety seriously,” the spokesperson stated.
The incident has intensified the debate over the safety and security protocols at major live streaming conventions.
