The long-running royalty dispute between gospel music star Mercy Chinwo and her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, may finally be heading towards resolution, as the label’s Managing Director, Nancy Nnadi popularly known as Coach Nancy has revealed that talks are ongoing to settle the issue amicably.
In a surprising twist to the highly publicized legal drama, Nancy recently took to Instagram to retract her earlier defamatory claims against Chinwo, signaling a possible softening of tensions between both parties. Her public statement comes months after the singer filed a defamation suit against her, demanding a retraction and public apology.
“On the advice of my lawyer, and for the sake of peace and love of God, I retract my earlier post about Minister Mercy Chinwo. As well pray that Almighty God perfects the ongoing settlement process being facilitated by the Fathers of Faith between her and EeZee Conceptz,” Nancy wrote in her weekend post.
This latest development follows Mercy Chinwo’s January 2025 court action against EeZee Conceptz founder Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as EeZee Tee, accusing him of diverting $345,000 in music royalties. The lawsuit came two years after the celebrated gospel singer parted ways with the label, citing unresolved financial disagreements.
Amidst the heated legal exchange, Nancy Nnadi had previously accused Chinwo of financial misconduct, sparking further outrage and leading the singer to initiate legal proceedings for defamation. The move added another layer to an already complicated legal situation.
However, with Nancy now publicly retracting her statements and affirming that respected religious leaders referred to as the “Fathers of Faith” are mediating the matter, there’s renewed hope that the feud could end in reconciliation.
The gospel music community has welcomed the peace talks, hoping that the parties involved can find common ground and move forward with love and understanding, values they each uphold in their ministries.
As fans await the outcome, many are praying that the rift is healed in a manner befitting the spiritual message of gospel music: forgiveness, restoration, and grace.
