A driver was rescued this morning after their car plunged into a partially frozen creek in Elgin’s west suburbs.
The accident occurred around 9:09 a.m. Thursday near the 9600-block of Kendall Road. Officials from the Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District confirmed that the vehicle left the roadway and landed upside down in the icy water, partially submerged.
One person was trapped inside the wrecked car.
Firefighters immediately responded and successfully freed the driver within ten minutes of arriving on the scene. The patient was quickly transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries and signs of hypothermia.
Authorities believe that ice on the roadway was a likely factor that contributed to the crash.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
