Nigerian rap sensation, Odumodu Blvck, has set social media buzzing after sharing a snippet of a verse he recorded for Davido’s 5ive album; a verse that eventually didn’t make the final cut.
Taking to X, Odumodu posted the clip with the caption: “My verse that did not make Baddest album. That time I dey quarrel with my Egbon CDQ.”
The post immediately stirred conversations among fans, with many praising the energy of the unreleased verse and wondering why it didn’t make it onto the project.
Responding to Odumodu Blvck’s post, superstar singer Davido revealed that the recording was actually done years ago, prior to their recent hit collaboration, “Funds.” In Davido’s words, “We made this before ‘Funds’ 2 years ago.”
While the verse may not have made it onto 5ive, the chemistry between the two artists was undeniable, eventually leading to the creation of “Funds,” a track that has been making waves since its release. The revelation adds an interesting layer to their collaborative history, showing that the synergy between Davido and Odumodu Blvck had been brewing long before the world heard it.
Interestingly, Odumodu’s mention of “quarrel” with CDQ also caught the attention of fans, hinting at a previously unknown tension between the two heavyweights at the time the song was recorded.
Odumodu blvck appears to diss CDQ on the track which many think is the reason it didn’t make it to the album. However, from all indications, the quarrel seems to be water under the bridge now.
As Odumodu Blvck continues to cement his place in the Nigerian music scene, and with Davido’s ‘5ive’ album still making waves globally, fans are hopeful that more collaborations between the two will surface and maybe, just maybe, they’ll get to hear the full unreleased track someday.
