Nigerian singer and record producer, Young John, has revealed that superstar Davido often leaves him feeling financially intimidated but not in a bad way.
Speaking during a light-hearted sideline interview at Paris Fashion Week, the Go Hard Or Go Home hitmaker was asked if he had ever met someone who made him feel broke. His answer came with both admiration and honesty.
“Too many times, bro. Davido,” Young John responded. “Whenever I see his money, I’m like, I need to work hard and drop more songs.”
While his response drew laughter from those around, it also revealed the immense respect he holds for Davido, whose wealth, success, and relentless work ethic have long inspired up-and-coming artists.
Young John, whose real name is Udomboso John Saviours, has had a remarkable career journey. Originally known as a super producer under Olamide’s YBNL Nation, he was the mastermind behind several chart-topping hits, producing for artists like Olamide, Lil Kesh, and Viktoh.
In 2024, the music star shocked fans when he revealed he never actually planned on becoming an artist. According to him, his transition from behind the boards to behind the mic happened “by accident.” Yet that unplanned career switch has proven to be a blessing. With successful singles, chart presence, and now appearances at international fashion events, Young John is clearly carving out a place for himself in Nigeria’s ever-evolving music scene.
His recent comments about Davido not only show the financial gap that often exists between established superstars and emerging talents but also underscore the healthy motivation such figures provide within the industry.
While Davido may make Young John feel “broke,” it’s evident that the feeling pushes him to hustle harder and music fans are reaping the rewards.
