Afrobeats superstar Davido has achieved another milestone in his glittering career as he becomes one of the newest voting members of the prestigious Recording Academy, the body responsible for the Grammy Awards.
With this membership, Davido will now play an active role in the decision-making process that determines Grammy nominees and winners; a privilege reserved for influential voices within the global music industry.
Describing the recognition as a significant step in his journey, the Nigerian hitmaker called his admission into the Academy “a gamechanger.”
“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” Davido said in a video broadcast, adding that he feels honoured to join the Academy and is excited about the opportunity to cast his votes in the upcoming awards.
This achievement comes as Davido continues to leave an indelible mark on the global music scene. He first earned three nominations at the 2024 Grammys, including Best Global Album for Timeless, but missed out on wins.
His fourth nomination came in 2025 through his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay on Sensational, which was nominated for Best African Music Performance but ultimately lost to Tems’ Love Me Jeje.
Now, as a voting member, Davido’s influence extends beyond just performing and releasing chart-topping records, he is set to have a direct impact on shaping the future of music’s biggest night.
