Nigerian music heavyweight Davido has stirred fresh online buzz after clashing with Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over comments praising Wizkid.
The drama unfolded when Gawat shared a promotional poster for Wizkid’s December 28 concert at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). Captioning it “Ọmọ wa ni” (“He is our own”), the aide expressed pride in the Grammy-winning star.
Fans quickly trooped to the comment section, with one boldly declaring: “Wizkid is the face of Lagos. Baba Bolu always promotes Lagos.”
Gawat agreed, responding: “Yes, correct. We are proud of him.”
But Davido wasn’t having it.
The DMW boss jumped into the conversation, telling Gawat to move on from whatever grudge he seemed to be holding. Davido wrote:
“Bro, it’s been a year, let it go… why is it still doing you… grow up.”
He also referenced an older tweet by Gawat where the aide had described Wizkid as “Ọrẹ Ọga wa ni,” adding:
“Since yesterday… let it go nah… cheer up.”
Their exchange quickly went viral, reigniting discussions about the long-standing rivalry between the two Afrobeats giants and keeping fans buzzing across social media.
