Reality TV star Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has broken her silence following the tragic death of her sister, Ruth, after a fatal accident involving a Dangote truck.
In an emotional Instagram live session, the BBNaija Season 7 winner accused the company of complicity, alleging that Ruth’s death was not accidental but the result of deliberate negligence. According to her, Ruth survived the initial crash but was later denied proper treatment.
“She did not just die—she was murdered. Dangote Group first crushed her dreams, then her legs, and finally, they gambled with her life,” Phyna claimed. She alleged that hospital staff were instructed to inject her sister fatally, insisting the company found it “cheaper for her to die” than to fund her transfer abroad for specialized care.
The reality star further revealed that the family had received only ₦20 million from the company, which she said was presented as burial support rather than true compensation. The arrangement, she added, was concluded without her involvement.
In a separate official statement, Phyna rejected Dangote Group’s claims that they covered all of Ruth’s medical bills and had made plans to fly her to India for treatment.
“THEIR STATEMENT IS FALSE AND MISLEADING,” she wrote. “The only bill they covered was at Lagoon Hospital. They made no further payments, no travel arrangements, and no real efforts to take Ruth abroad. Anything beyond that is a fabrication.”
Phyna, visibly heartbroken, also reminded Nigerians of the human cost of the tragedy. Ruth, a young mother, left behind two children—including a baby who is still breastfeeding. “Instead of sending baby food, milk, or pampers for a child whose mother they killed, they are busy posting statements filled with lies,” she said.
The reality star warned she is ready to pursue further action to ensure her sister’s dignity is upheld and justice is served:
“Human life is not a PR strategy. Do not claim what you did not do.”
Her allegations have sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for a full investigation into Ruth’s death, both the accident itself and the alleged medical negligence that followed.
