Nigerian dancehall singer, Cynthia Morgan, now known as Madrina, has reacted strongly to a recent statement made by Peter Okoye of the famous music duo P-Square, after her name was dragged into his ongoing family feud.
Peter, in a post shared via Instagram on Wednesday, openly accused his twin brother and music partner, Paul Okoye, as well as their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, of betrayal and financial impropriety. The accusations come amid what appears to be a deepening legal rift between the Okoye brothers, once united as one of Africa’s biggest music groups.
While expressing his frustration, Peter Okoye referenced his brothers’ history with former label signees, including Cynthia Morgan and singer May D, seemingly in a bid to distance himself from how they were allegedly treated in the past.
In his words, Peter wrote:
“Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything to make me look like a liar. I’m not MayD or Cynthia Morgan. I’m PETER OKOYE, the one and only ROCK/OKWUTE of the Okoyes. The truth shall prevail. #UnaThiefAbiUnaNoThief #FamilyDoesNotStealFromFamily.”
However, Cynthia Morgan did not take kindly to the mention of her name in the brewing Okoye saga. Taking to her Instagram story, she fired back at Peter Okoye, expressing her mixed feelings and calling out his past actions during her tumultuous time under their label, Northside Entertainment.
She wrote:
“I have a mixed feeling about my name popping up like this. I’m not a weak person. Certain family members made it look so. @peterpsquare included. Until you found out what they were doing to you too. Na me listen to una sha.”
Cynthia’s reaction appears to reference the bitter fallout she had years ago with Northside Entertainment, the label jointly run by the Okoye brothers. At the height of the controversy, she accused Jude Okoye and the label of sidelining her and damaging her career; a claim that sparked a widespread debate in the music industry at the time.
Though Peter Okoye had once publicly declared support for her during the dispute, Madrina’s latest comments suggest that she now sees things differently, possibly indicating that she felt misled or abandoned during her ordeal.
