A tough loss for the Washington Commanders against the Chicago Bears on Monday night led to a nasty fight between several Commanders fans inside Northwest Stadium.
The brawling took place in the stands shortly after the Commanders lost a gut-wrenching 25-24 game to the Bears, who won with a last-second field goal.
The Brawl and the Aftermath
Video footage, captured by Commanders fan Kiara Shanae and shared on Instagram, shows multiple home supporters fighting in the seating area. The brawl started with security nowhere in sight.
In the chaotic video, one shirtless fan is seen trading punches and falling into a row of seats.
Another fight broke out in the row directly below. After roughly 30 seconds of fighting, two security guards finally arrived to stop the melee.
The shirtless fan was then seen being led away by one of the guards.
Tough Loss for Washington
The fan incident capped off a disappointing evening for the Commanders (3-3).
The team hurt itself with three turnovers, matching the total from its first five games combined.
The critical mistake came late in the game when a botched handoff between quarterback Jayden Daniels and running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt resulted in a fumble.
The Bears recovered, setting up Jake Moody’s game-winning 38-yard field goal.
“You really don’t deserve to win many games when you’re in that space,” said Washington coach Dan Quinn after the game.
The Bears (3-2) now move ahead, extending their winning streak to three games and successfully getting revenge for last season’s dramatic “Hail Mary” loss to Washington.
