From overnight shootings to ongoing searches for robbery suspects, Chicago saw a flurry of incidents reported across the city.

  1. Mass Shooting on Division Street Bar Strip: At least four people were injured when multiple gunmen opened fire near State and Division in the Gold Coast. Over 30 Chicago police officers, many probationary, were in the area at the time. The scene involved bullets ricocheting near officers, prompting questions about shots fired at police. The local alderman is now calling for CPD to shutter a nearby nightclub while connections to the incident are investigated.
  2. Child Shot at Walgreens: A 10-year-old child was shot in the arm outside a Walgreens at 3611 E 106th St following a dispute inside the store. The incident started as a person-with-a-gun call, escalating to shots fired with reports of two groups of kids involved. The shooter, described as a juvenile male Hispanic in a black mask, fled the scene.
  3. Armed Robbery Crew Search in South Chicago: Police hunted for at least three offenders wanted for armed robberies, including hits on multiple Dunkin’ Donuts locations earlier in the day. They bailed from a vehicle near 92nd and Colfax, with a weapon recovered at 9150 S Colfax. K-9 units and SWAT were deployed, and three suspects were taken into custody near 91st and Kingston, with one possibly still at large.
  4. Robbery at Rainbow Cleaners: A male Black suspect robbed the cleaners at 1648 E 53rd St, stealing money from the desk after a physical altercation with staff. He was armed with a stick and fled; no injuries reported.
  5. Vehicle Vandalism Spree on Western Ave: At least 25 vehicles had their windows smashed overnight along Western Ave from Bryn Mawr to Peterson, near Alderman Vasquez’s office. Residents noted the destruction amid ongoing debates about local investment and safety.
  6. Shooting in South Union: EMS responded to a person shot at 10550 S Union. Details on the victim’s condition remain limited.
  7. Leg Shooting Near Jackson Blvd: A 22-year-old male was shot in the left leg at 323 S Maplewood (near Jackson Blvd). He was transported to Rush Hospital in fair condition; a shell casing and blood were found at the scene in the alley.
  8. Street Gang Activity at 71st & Artesian: Reports of street gangs terrorizing the area, with video showing disruptive behavior. Locals highlighted challenges in attracting investment due to such incidents.
  9. Fight on CTA Bus: A group fight broke out on a bus at 71st and Cottage Grove, prompting a police response.
  10. Shots Fired Incidents Across Neighborhoods: Multiple reports including shots at Independence and Arthington (people running), Ainslie and Drake (male yelling, possibly hit), Monticello and Ainslie (6 shots heard), and others. No confirmed victims in these calls.
  11. Auto Accident with Injuries: EMS rolled to Jarvis and Sheridan for a vehicle crash involving injuries.
  12. Suicide Attempt in Little Village: EMS responded to 2524 S Central Park for a reported suicide attempt.
  13. Ghost Gun Seized in South Loop: A traffic stop for tinted windows led to the recovery of a fully automatic, loaded ghost gun. The driver faces charges.
  14. Gold Coast Assault Charges: An Uptown man was charged with randomly attacking two women in the Gold Coast, linked to a pattern of “Loop Puncher” style assaults.
  15. Carjacking Sentencing: A man received a 10-year sentence for carjacking a driver near Goose Island last October, with a 13-year-old accomplice, while he had two prior carjacking cases pending.
  16. Miscellaneous Public Safety Notes: Reports of 10 people sleeping on the mezzanine at Howard Red Line station; a non-emergency call of a person sitting in the road who was unharmed; and commentary on confusing new bike lane configurations causing traffic issues on Wood Street.

This roundup highlights a busy period for public safety in Chicago, with a focus on violent crimes and responses. Stay safe and follow local updates for developments.
