An 18-year-old man faces a felony charge after a shooting on Chicago’s South Side earlier this week.
Police arrested Daniel May on January 13, 2026, in the 6700 block of South Crandon Avenue.
The arrest took place at approximately 6:52 p.m., just minutes after a shooting occurred in the same block.
Investigators identified May as the person who shot and injured a 20-year-old woman.
Emergency responders treated the victim, though her current condition has not been released.
Following the arrest, authorities charged May with one felony count of Aggravated Battery/Discharge of a Firearm.
A warrant was issued leading to his formal charging by the Chicago Police Department.
May is scheduled for a detention hearing today, January 15, 2026.
The hearing will take place at the court located at 2600 South California Avenue.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
