A well-known Chicago photographer and videographer was tragically killed in a shooting Sunday night in the West Pullman neighborhood.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 37-year-old Troy Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth was a prominent figure in the creative community, known professionally as PolaBear Red Filmz.
He was also the brother of well-known Chicago advocate and influencer, the “Dreadhead Cowboy.”

The fatal incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 100 block of East 118th Place.
Chicago police say Hollingsworth was sitting in his vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, when an unknown person opened fire.
He was struck multiple times throughout his body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the national dance and majorette community.
Friends and collaborators described him as a “legend” who dedicated his life to making young performers feel seen and celebrated.
“The way you loved and supported all these teams and kids wasn’t unnoticed,” one community member shared, calling him a pillar of the Detroit Fame All Stars.
Another mourner noted that he was more than just a cameraman, describing him as a “behind-the-scenes legend” and a member of their family since 2019.

The Star Struck Sports Superstars group expressed complete shock, stating they were proud of the creative impact he made on the industry.
“You weren’t just documenting memories—you were helping create them,” stated a tribute from JCD, highlighting his dedication to the culture.
The victim leaves behind children and a massive professional family who credited him with capturing their most viral moments.
Many collaborators noted his kindness, mentioning how he pushed others to reach the next level in their own careers.

Area Two detectives are currently investigating the shooting as a homicide, but no suspects are in custody.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown as police continue to process evidence from the scene.
