A Chicago man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot at a 16-year-old boy in November.
The offender, identified as Dawon Thompson (47), who resides in the 0-100 block of N. Lavergne Ave., was arrested by Chicago Police on December 13, 2025.
Police state that Thompson was identified as the person who, on November 18, 2025, discharged a firearm at a 16-year-old male victim. The attack occurred in the 5000 block of West Madison Street in the city’s 15th District.
Crucially, the police report confirms the 16-year-old victim was not struck or injured in the shooting.
Thompson was taken into custody on W. Madison St. and charged with two felony counts:

Dawon Thompson is scheduled for a Detention Hearing today, December 15, 2025, at 2600 S. California. No additional information regarding the motive or the controlled substance charge is available at this time.
