A 30-year-old man is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last summer on the city’s Southwest Side.
Chicago Police arrested Daquan Barfield on December 18, 2025, in the 0-100 block of South Austin Boulevard.
Investigators from the Area One Homicide Support Team identified Barfield as the person responsible for the death of a 33-year-old man several months ago.
The shooting took place on August 22, 2025, in the 4900 block of South Archer Avenue.
According to authorities, Barfield fatally shot the victim before fleeing the scene.
After a four-month investigation, police tracked Barfield down and took him into custody without further incident.
Barfield faces one felony count of First Degree Murder.
His detention hearing was scheduled for December 21, 2025, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California Avenue.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim or a motive for the shooting.
