A man has been charged with two felony counts of first-degree murder after a woman was fatally shot during a reported “domestic disturbance” on the city’s Southeast Side, Chicago police confirmed.
The incident occurred early Monday morning, around 2:37 a.m., in the 9600-block of S. Avenue N in the East Side neighborhood.
Police officers were dispatched to the scene following a call regarding a domestic disturbance. A 27-year-old woman was found at the location with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, 29-year-old Joel Quintero Cristian, was taken into custody by police shortly after the shooting. A weapon was recovered by authorities at the scene.
Quintero Cristian is currently facing the two felony murder charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for a detention hearing.
