4 Bomb Threats Rock Chicago Schools and Businesses Today

Chicago’s pulse quickened over the past 12 hours with a flurry of alarming incidents, from multiple bomb threats disrupting schools and businesses to gunfire echoing through neighborhoods and heightened law enforcement presence tied to federal immigration operations.

Here’s a numbered breakdown of the key events reported between approximately 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. CDT on October 14, 2025. Stay vigilant, our city demands it.

  1. Bomb Threat at Simeon High School (8147 S Vincennes, ~11:16 a.m.): A chilling call warned of a device set to detonate in 30 minutes, prompting evacuations and a full sweep. No device found, but the scare rippled through the Greater Grand Crossing community.
  2. Bomb Threat at Butler College Prep (821 E 103rd St, ~11:23 a.m.): Just minutes later, another threat hit this Pullman school, with authorities linking both calls to the same phone number. Units cleared Simeon and rushed over—thankfully, another false alarm, but the pattern raises red flags.
  3. Bomb Threat at Divvy Headquarters (2061 W Hastings, ~11:02 a.m.): A text to an employee claimed a bomb under a van or UIC truck, echoing a prior threat at their Hubbard warehouse. With 75 staff inside, the Ukranian Village hub was locked down; screenshot evidence points to a possible repeat offender.
  4. Follow-Up Bomb Threat at Divvy Service Warehouse (2132 W Hubbard, ~11:48 a.m.): The hits kept coming—another alert at this West Town site, tying back to the morning chaos. Evacuations cleared quickly, but it underscores vulnerabilities in public transit infrastructure.
  5. Bomb Threat at Dulles Elementary School (6311 S Calumet, ~2:39 p.m.): Parents were notified after a call about an explosive device in this Englewood school. Bronzeville-area families held their breath as teams searched—no credible threat, but the fourth school/business scare of the day.
  6. Suspected ICE-Related Crash on East Side (10500 S Avenue N, ~11:30 a.m.): Witnesses reported a white SUV—possibly driven by ICE agents—crashing into another vehicle after a collision. Flat tire, no official confirmation yet, but it fueled tensions amid broader federal sweeps in the area.
  7. Major Law Enforcement Activity on East Side (~12:15 p.m.): Chopper 7 captured heavy police presence, later tied to ICE/Border Patrol operations. Reports indicate at least nine detentions in the Southeast Side, sparking debates over “arrests” vs. “takings” in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods.
  8. Armed Suspect Sighted in South Deering (106th/Ave M, ~1:34 p.m.): A POD camera caught a male Hispanic in a blue hoodie and black pants with a visible gun. 402-Sam units mobilized, heightening alerts in this industrial pocket.
  9. EMS Response to Traffic Accident (4800 S Ashland, ~2:27 p.m.): A serious crash triggered an EMS Plan I in Brighton Park, with medics rushing to the scene. Details on injuries sparse, but it snarled morning commutes.
  10. Ongoing Echoes of Overnight Shootings: While spilling into daylight, fresh details emerged on last night’s violence,  a 39-year-old killed at 311 W Root (Princeton & Root) with 17 casings recovered; a 36-year-old abdomen-shot at 6208 S Paulina (62nd & Paulina), his 10-year-old son dialing 911; two teens wounded at 113th & May; and gunshots at 79th & Maryland gas station, 134th & Brandon, plus Claremont & Flournoy shootout. A juvenile was detained nearby.

These incidents paint a city on edge, blending everyday hazards with targeted threats. Bomb hoaxes alone disrupted hundreds of lives today.
