A Chicago firefighter was hurt overnight into Sunday while fighting a fire on the city’s Northwest Side, according to Chicago Fire Department (CFD) officials.
The Incident
The fire occurred near Lawndale and Division in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. During the intense effort to control the blaze, a firefighter was struck by debris.
CFD officials confirmed the injured firefighter was transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, the injury is not life-threatening, and the firefighter is expected to recover.
In addition to the firefighter, one other person was taken to the hospital with injuries that were also described as non-serious.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities.
