A 78-year-old man was shot and killed inside a home on Chicago’s Southwest Side on Tuesday night, according to local authorities.
The shooting occurred around 8:01 p.m. in the 4500-block of South Lamon Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Marvin Cook, with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Despite emergency efforts, Cook did not survive his injuries.
As of Wednesday morning, Chicago police confirmed that no suspects are in custody.
Area One detectives have taken over the case and are currently reviewing surveillance video from the neighborhood, hoping to identify a shooter or a getaway vehicle.
Police have not yet shared a possible motive for the attack or confirmed if anything was stolen from the residence.
