Popular Nigerian culinary sensation, Damilola Adeparusi, widely known as Chef Dammy, has dispelled speculations that she is gearing up for a Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the largest pot of beans.
The rumor began circulating online just days after chef Hilda Baci set a new milestone by preparing the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice, an achievement that drew nationwide attention and celebration.
In a video shared on her social media page on Wednesday, Chef Dammy addressed the claims head-on, making it clear that she had no such plans.
“So, I am making this video because of those asking if I want to cook again? Some of my classmates are asking if I truly want to cook beans? Like, no! Why would I do that?” she stated.
Dammy went on to extend her heartfelt congratulations to Hilda Baci, applauding her record-breaking feat and what it means for Nigeria and the African continent.
“I will like to say a very big congratulations to Miss Hilda for the just completed project of cooking biggest pot of jollof rice to feed thousands. Congratulations to Nigeria and to all the African countries,” she added.
Chef Dammy first rose to fame in 2023 following her highly controversial cook-a-thon attempt, which divided public opinion and generated heated debates across social media. While many admired her boldness, others criticized the process and questioned its authenticity.
With her latest statement, the Ekiti-born chef has put to rest fresh speculations, clarifying that she has no interest in chasing a Guinness World Record for beans.
