A vehicle fire disrupted the Wednesday morning commute on Interstate 94 in Chicago, causing lane closures and heavy delays.
Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to the scene at approximately 8:39 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-94 at 87th Street.
Upon arrival, troopers found a car completely engulfed in flames.
Fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze.
Fortunately, state police confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
To allow for emergency response and debris cleanup, officials shut down two northbound lanes for over an hour.
While the fire is out, traffic remains slow in the area as lanes begin to reopen.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and state police have not released further details at this time.
