A chaotic police investigation that began in the suburbs ended with a violent crash into a Chicago home.
A red sedan slammed into a residential property in North Lawndale late Tuesday afternoon.
The incident started just before 5:00 p.m. when Cicero police attempted to stop the vehicle.
The car was spotted on Cermak Road, just east of Cicero Avenue.
Police state the vehicle was connected to recent criminal activity in Hillside.
When officers tried to pull the car over, the driver sped away.
Cicero police managed to attach a tracking device to the vehicle as it fled.
Officers stopped following the car near the viaduct at Cicero and 46th Street for safety reasons.
The tracking device alerted police that the sedan continued to drive recklessly.
The car reportedly sped through a red light at Kostner Avenue.
The driver then lost control and veered off the road.
The red sedan crashed directly into the front porch of a home in the 4300-block of Cermak Road.
ABC7 Chopper arrived over the scene at 5:15 p.m. to find a massive emergency response.
The impact of the crash completely destroyed the front concrete steps of the house.
The home is located at 4351 W. Cermak Road, right next to an Amoco gas station.
Two people were injured in the collision, according to Chicago police.
One woman was seen being taken away on a stretcher and was rushed to a local hospital.
One person at the scene was taken into police custody immediately following the crash.
Authorities blocked off several streets in the area to investigate the wreckage and structural damage.
