Bronzeville shooting: 18-year-old killed, 2 injured. An 18-year-old was killed, and two other people were injured in a triple shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon on Chicago’s South Side, police confirmed.
The Incident
The shooting took place around 5:05 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
Police reports indicate that three victims were sitting inside a car when they were approached by three suspects.
The victims immediately drove away but were forced to stop near 30th Street and Michigan Avenue. At this location, at least one of the suspects opened fire on the vehicle.
Victims Identified
The 18-year-old male driver was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two passengers, a 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, were both shot in the leg. Both were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center (U of C Hospital) and are listed in good condition.
Police Investigation
A police alert was issued to students at the nearby Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) campus. However, police assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the campus itself.
As of Monday evening, no arrests have been made, and the Chicago Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
