Former Anambra State governor and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has been arrested in Abuja and is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The development was confirmed on Wednesday night in a statement issued by Ngige’s former media aide, Fred Chukwulobe, who clarified the situation after speculation spread online claiming the ex-governor had been kidnapped.
Chukwulobe dismissed the circulating rumours and confirmed that Ngige is indeed with the EFCC.
According to him:
“Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past minister of labour and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, is with the EFCC. More details later.”
Further information regarding the circumstances of the arrest is expected to emerge as the EFCC continues its interrogation.
