The controversy surrounding the federal presence in Chicago exploded today after Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino directly countered Governor J.B. Pritzker’s assertion that federal agents were “ratcheting down” operations.

Bovino, the visible leader of the controversial Operation Midway Blitz, aggressively dismissed the Governor’s statement. Pritzker had expressed relief that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) was reducing its presence in the city.

“He’s pleased operations are being ratcheting down? JUST THE OPPOSITE, we’re ratcheting operations UP!” Bovino stated in a defiant public response.

Commander Alleges Corruption and Slams Judges

Bovino did not stop at refuting the Governor’s claim. He launched a scathing critique of the state and city’s leadership, alleging systemic failures and corruption as justification for the continued federal presence.

“My team and I have spent two months in Chicago. What’s happening there, it’s beyond the pale,” Bovino claimed. “That’s a very corrupt system in Chicago, whether it’s those elected leaders like Pritzker or those out of control judges.”

His remarks follow a tumultuous period for federal agents in the city, including a federal judge accusing Bovino of lying under oath and ordering the release of hundreds of detainees.

Federal Agents “Not Going Anywhere”

Despite reports citing anonymous sources that Bovino and his agents were preparing to leave Chicago, the Commander confirmed the mission remains active and fully staffed.

“Chicago needs some attention. We’re not going ANYWHERE out of Chicago,” Bovino asserted, adding that officials like Pritzker are “just mistaken… This is just another example of that.”

Bovino emphasized that the federal agents remain “all over Chicago” and are gearing up for their next mission, suggesting the scope and intensity of Operation Midway Blitz will only increase, despite the local political and judicial opposition.
