Bounce House Accident: 5-Year-Old Dies After Wind Sends It Airborne

A shocking incident took place during a professional baseball game in Waldorf, Maryland on Friday night claiming the live of a five year old boy and heavily injuring a child.

As what officials said, the accident occurred when a bounce house that kids were using in the course of the game was suddenly raised higher off the ground by winds.

The inflatable structure was lifted 15 to 20 feet off the ground before falling back onto the field during the game between the Blue Crabs of the Southern Maryland and York Revolution from the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, held at the Regency Furniture Stadium.

The unidentified young boy was later helped to the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D. C. by a helicopter but was confirmed dead on arrival. One more child was also urgently taken aboard a helicopter and then taken to the hospital, he also sustained non-critical injuries.

After the accident, the Blue Crabs stopped the game and suspended the rest of their games over the weekend. The team posted a statement on Facebook to convey their condolences to the families and the Southern Maryland community.

Charles County Government Commission President Reuben B. Collins II also extended his sympathies and praised the efforts of first responders. The event has shocked people in the community, beginning from officials to the baseball team which has shown its support during this hard time.
