A cousin has shared details about the hero who disarmed a gunman during the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Mustafa told 7NEWS that his 43-year-old cousin, Ahmed al Ahmed, grabbed a gun from one of the attackers.
Mr al Ahmed, a father of two and fruit shop owner, had no experience with firearms. He just happened to walk past the scene and chose to risk his life by confronting the gunman.
Mustafa said the 43-year-old got shot twice in the leg and shoulder during the chaos. He now waits in the hospital for surgery.
“He’s in hospital and we don’t know exactly what’s going on inside,” Mustafa told 7NEWS. “We do hope he will be fine. He’s a hero 100 per cent.”
