LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Police are investigating after a body was discovered Friday evening near train tracks in north suburban Libertyville.
The discovery was made near the intersection of Winchester Road and Ellis Avenue.
While the body was found in close proximity to the tracks, a Metra spokesperson confirmed that the individual was not struck by a train.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office is currently working to identify the person and determine the exact cause of death.
At this time, officials have not released information regarding the person’s age, gender, or whether foul play is suspected.
The investigation caused significant disruptions for Friday evening travelers.
Several trains on the Metra Milwaukee District North Line experienced delays as authorities secured the scene.
