Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, has shared a heartfelt perspective on why he holds black women in such high regard.
The ‘African Giant’ crooner, known for his pride in African heritage and black identity, made the revelation during a recent sit-down with Cocoa Butter while in Atlanta, Georgia.
When asked what he loved most about black women, Burna Boy gave a response that reflected both self-love and cultural pride.
The interviewer posed the question: “What is your favourite thing about black women?”
Burna Boy replied without hesitation: “First of all, it’s the fact that they are an extension of me. I must always love myself, so I must love my black women.”
This statement adds another layer to Burna Boy’s long-standing celebration of black beauty and femininity, a theme that often runs through his music. Over the years, he has dedicated numerous songs to black women, including fan favourites like Onyeka, Omo, and On The Low, tracks that have become anthems of adoration and appreciation.
Renowned not just for his Afro-fusion sound but also for his unapologetic black consciousness, Burna Boy continues to use both his music and platform to uplift and honour black identity. His recent remarks only further reinforce his place as a cultural icon who wears his roots with pride.
